Wet'N'Wild - Buffy the Violet Slayer

Seriously, I love this name. I never watched the Buffy TV show, I guess I'm too old or something. But this name made me laugh, and that's all that counts. I wore this to my second thesis defense, and I rocked it - and I smiled every time I remembered I have a slayer on my nails. Yeah, I'm weird like that sometimes:))

Three coats. See the purple and pink shimmer?

Milani - Totally Cool

This title is soooo appropriate! This polish is cool! I got this from Chris - I can honestly say she knows my taste dead on. This stunning jelly like purple with magenta sparkles is great.

The pics:

See? I told you it's cool:)

Models Own - Purple Grey

See how I'm expanding my polish collection? This is from my first Models Own haul when the discount was on:)

I don't really care that it's supposed to be a Chanel dupe minus the shimmer. I really love the colour all by itself! A really great purple-brown-grey, I couldn't stop looking at it!

The formula was amazing too - two coats and just the right consistency - a little thick, but not too thick. Ah, love.

Claire's Mood - calm/wild

This is, in my opinion, really gorgeous. And yes, I know it's pink, but it's great anyways!!

Two coats, no TC. A furry bonus in one pic is my Galileo :)

BYS - Plum Delight

This is a sort of average colour for me. It does stand out from the usual frosty purples because of it's multicolor glittery bits, but all in all, it's sort of average. Will wear it for more formal occasions though. Three coats to full coverage.

S-he - 464

Behold, a one coater. Don't really like the colour (of course), but I think if you're into purples you'd really love this.

Essence - Thelma

My third post today, I must really be crazy:) I made a pact with myself - every two pages of my thesis and I get a swatching break. So you see, I've been good today:)

This polish isn't impressive at all, at least not to me. A dark purple creme, booooring:) I added the glitter topper TC it's supposed to be combined with on one of my fingers. I have no complaints abbout application. Just about the colour:)

New project & Misa - Fatal Affair

I said something yesterday about a no-buy.. I'm starting today :)

I have a new "project" in mind. Since I have all these polishes I havent worn as a full mani and haven't posted on this blog, I put them all in a box. From now on, when choosing my polish, I'm gonna close my eyes and randomly pull out one of them, put it on and take pics. So, considering I'm sometimes willing to change my mani quite a few times before I like it, expect some serious spam from me:)

The first polish from this project was Misa - Fatal Affair. I love it in the bottle, on the nails - not so much. The shimmer seems to get lost on the nails, even though it does show up great in the pics. Application was actually great, two coats to perfection.

First three pics under artificial light, the last one in natural light. Damn, I got to get myself a lightbox.

Purple Skittles mani and a giveaway game

I really didn't know which polish to wear. I couldn't even decide what colour. So I tweeted about it (yes, I tweet now - I'm getting the hang of it and sense a disturbing addiction coming...). And to the rescue came Shiny!, so the purple theme is her fault. I discovered I have many many purple polishes, and picked ten that are not cremes and don't have any red undertones (well, one actually is reddish, it flew under my radar).

And now, the interesting part:) I wanted to do something fun, since I'm writing my thesis and need something else to do to keep me from going crazy:) So, I made a skittles mani with some of my purple polishes. Each one of you gets one bonus entry for each polish she guesses right. And there's some help at the end of the post, otherwise it would be just crazy.

The pics I took are surprisingly colour accurate.

Left hand:

And some help - the bottles ;) These are in no particular order.

And to help some more, since some of these are pretty close in terms of colour, let me tell you this. There are 5 Essence polishes, 2 H&M, 1 Joy, 1 CCUK and 1 Sally Hansen.

The game goes on until tomorrow morning, 10 am CET. I will post when it's over, so keep guessing! One person can have multiple entries, but I won't comment on them, so you'll not know whether you're right or wrong until tomorrow. Comment with the number of my figer and the polish brand and name. You don't have to guess all fingers, you can do it one at a time or leave some of them out :)

Edit: This game is now closed!

Color Club - Ultra Violet

Well, I'm back. Seems like panic attacks and deserted islands don't mix....

On my nails today a summery colour, at least for me - Color Club's Ultra Violet. It took three coats, and it's a lovely pink, but has a blue shimmer that makes it sort of violet in all. I quite like it, surprisingly enough :)

In the sun:

In indirect sunlight:

And I see I have 100 followers. OMG, I'm totally in awe :) Looks like another giveaway is the thing to do :)

Essence Return to Paradise & a Flormar

I got a great package today - from Parokeets! I won their Facebook giveaway and got three polishes from the Return To Paradise TE from Essence, and a bonus polish - Flormar 391. I'm really busy packing and getting things together, because I'm leaving on holiday tomorrow. But that didn't stop me from swatching the polishes :)

First up is My little orchid. A gorgeous violet with shimmer, but luckily not frosty, just shimmery. Two coats in the pic.

Fruit punch is a great summery colour - a rich orange with glassy sort of flecs that shimmer like hell when in the sun! Two coats.

Are you ready? Next up is Back to paradise. A gorgeous dark green jelly! You gotta love it. It took three coats though, and as you can see I was really sloppy with the third coat *blush*

And the bonus polish. My first Flormar, nr. 391. A gorgeous dark grey with silver shimmer or glassy flecks, I can't decide. I was so surprised - the first coat looked very runny and sheer, but the second coat took care of all that, so there are only two coats on the picture.

And as an experiment, I topped two nails with Jessica's No Shine TC. Here's the result:

I think both versions look spectacular:)

Thanks again to Parokeets, you girls rock!

Essence - Date me! and a Hello Kitty mani

The insipiration for this mani was again a weekly challenge by Polish Hoarder Disorder. The challenge was to do a manicure, inspired by a book cover. Any book cover :) Since I'm mostly surrounded by study and work related book these days, I decided not to enter the challenge this week. But then I had a recipe I wanted to write down in my recipe book, and was immediately turned - I did a manicure with purple, flowers and Hello Kitty. You can see the cover of the book in the pic below, along with the things I used for the mani.

And here's the base polish - Essence's Date me! from the Cute as hell line. It took three coats to be opaque and not streaky, but the colour is worth a little extra hassle :)

I wanted to recreate the flowers on the cover, so I stamped them using two plates from Essence and used a Fauxnad plate for the Hello Kitty image (thanks nihrida!)I used Essence's Joe and Go wild for the flowers, combined with H&M's Pure white. Kitty is stamped with Konad Black polish.

Enough with the chattering - here is the final mani:

You can see all the other fabulour entries here.

And on another note - I absolutely hate myself for not posting the blog awards you guys have given me in the past weeks. I just can't seem to find the time. I'm really ashamed - I hope you know I'm really flattered by the awards!
