Essence - Underwater and SH layering

I was at the drugstore yesterday and this lovely polish caught me off guard, so I had to have it:) I also have the "old" version of Underwater - it's a frosty/shimmery blue. Tish one is a dusty dark blue with sparse blue glitter that doesn't really show on the nails. It does on my pics though, because I had to take them with flash as there is no natural light because of crappy weather. I like the "new" version better!

And I had to put something to satisfy my bling addiction over it - Sally Hansen In the Spotlight. Stringy holo glitter in a clear base. Haven't decided yet if I like it or not:)

Sally Hansen HD - Spectrum

I know, I know.. I start this big project and then I go MIA for two days at the very beginning. I have a good excuse though - I finally got my thesis together and I'm preparing for my defense, which is on monday. It was about time too :))

On Sunday I wore this beauty: Spectrum. I saw o other blogs it has some opacity issues, so I put it over one layer of a neutral blue polish. Then I put two layers of Spectrum, and voila! A beauty. I put a coat of SV over it. I was kinda dissapointed, as this was the first polish I experienced shrinking with when compined with SV. But I wore it anyway, it would be a sin to remove it immediately after swatching:)Oh, there was another thing. I was sort of frustrated because I couldn't see the glimpse of purple duochrome that you can see in the bottle when it was on my nails. Damn.

Swap with Chris from USA!

I already told you yesterday about my swap with Chris from Lacquer Ware For Tips And Toes. Today, I have something better - pictures!

The loot:

Yes, I literally laughed out loud when I was unpacking it. I love every single polish, and the Hello Kitty marshmallow rocks:)

Chris was super kind and put together a huuuge package as you can see. She also attached notes to the polishes:)

The candy:

And then "The Beast" cane to see what all the fuss is about:) Yes, I managed to salvage poor Kitty before she ate her:)

And the polishes:

Unfortunately, the glass file did not make it. I'll try to super glue it tomorrow, didn't have time today.

The polishes are:

L.A. Colors Metallic Purple
Borghese Stellare Notte
Sally Hansen In the Spotlight
Sinful Colors See You Soon
Sinful Colors Hottie
Sally Hansen Spectrum
Wet'n'Wild Rustic craze
Claire's calm/wild
Wet'n'Wild Morbid craze
Wet'n'Wild Night Prowl
Confetti My Favorite Martian
A franken
KISS nail art set with three polishes and stencils
China Glaze Matte Magic

You see now why I laughed? And sort of screamed too? To you USA girls these polishes are probably nothing, but to me they're all really special and I'll love them until they are empty:)

I couldn't decide which one to wear, so I did a crazy skittles. I didn't have any meeting or serious affairs, so I could afford it:)I used 10 of the polishes from th swap! One coat of Seche Vite over all of them.

Chris, YOU ROCK!

And, this is my 100th post! Yay for me, and a bigger YAY for all of you who put up with me;)

Moda 25 and Sally Hansen Sea and be Seen

The Moda polishes were a discovery:) I haven't heard of them before, and I found them in a local shop, sitting desperately in a bag waiting to be bought. Not to worry, I rescued a few:) This is the one I tried first - 25. Three coats and dried quite fast. I love how it glows pink, I'd rather if it was blue, but I forgive it. Pics under artificial light, because I took them in the evening.

And because I can't look at my pink nails for long, I put Sally Hansen's Sea and be Seen over it. One or two coats, you'll see the difference.

Do you like it? I evened it out eventually by putting another coat on the ones I had previously put just one, so now I have light blue nails with flashing green and pink. Lovely!

Sally Hansen - Sea and be Seen over Stargazer - 135

I wore this for a day and I had to remove it. The tipwear was horrible:(

Anyway - the base was Stargazer's 135 polish - a lovely dark shimmery turquoise. And I topped it off with Sally Hansen's Sea and be Seen - a blue and violet shimmery polish, but it's in an almoast clear base, so it's only a layering polish. I tried it once without a base and it wasn't opaque even with 5 coats.

Hidden treasure over greys

Please, no comments regarding my lazyness:)

Grey polishes (well, grey, silver, yellow... whatever:))

From left to right:

Essence - Romeo (Nail art twins LE)
s-he - 466
Claire's Mood - daring/innocent (yes, it's grey in the bottle. and yellow on the nails)
Sally Hansen - Wet Cement

And pics with HT over them:

I won't do any more swatches today, I promise. But tomorrow is another day:) So please let me know if there are any polishes you would like to see HT swatched over!

Hidden Treasure over pinks

I really needed a break (again) *sigh*

So, I swatched HT over pinks. I'm really not into pinks, but I managed to find four different ones. Still not liking them:)

Pinks without HT:

From left to right:

Essence - Mr.Big (Nail art twins)
Essence - Hot Stuff
Essence - Think Pink (Crazy about colour LE)
Claire's Mood - fabulous/funky

And with HT:

Hidden Treasure over greens

If you're fed up with pics of Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure, please feel free to skip this post :)

A few of you, my super lovely followers, asked for some pics of HT over different polishes. Today I have a "stay-at-home-and-work-like-an-idiot-in-front-of-the-computer" day, so I decided to take regular breaks and do swatches in between work:)

First, I picked up some green from my collection. The polishes alone:

From left to right:
Essence - All access
Essence - Crazy me (Crazy about colour LE)
H&M - Green (from the mini 4-pack)
Catrice - Sold out forever

And then I layered one coat of HT over them. I was surprised at how I didn't like the effect that much - I was sure I'd love it. The only combo I'd consider wearing is the one with All access.

Sally Hansen Purple Pizzazz

Another one of those love/hate relationships... I got this in a swap with Glamorous Geek Chic. I loooove the colour. Just look at the loveliness in the bottle:

But then, it smells. Really smells, just like the Wet Cement one. And I applied four coats and you can still clearly see my nail line. Next time I'll layer it over some purple, maybe it'll be better. Because the colour is really to die for! Not to mention the flakie glittery bits... Yes, I really need to layer it!

Sally Hansen Wet Cement

Another polish I got in a swap :) Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in 37 - Wet Cement.

It's a perfect grey, in any lighting, it doesn't show any undertones of other colours. The brush is flattened, long and soft, application is surprisingly easy. It took two coats and dried fast enough. The only complaint I have is the smell... Ugh:( Do all of these smell as bad as mine? Sort of like wet cement really:) I wore it for roughly three days, and was surprised. I usually get chips by the second day, no matter what the polish, but this one was perfect when I removed it, so kudos for that.

Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure

Yes yes, I know you've all heard lots and lots about this polish, seen millions of pics and are fed up. But hey, give me a break:) It's my first Sally Hansen and it's my first real flakie, so please. I have to do a post about it:)

I got this from a swap I recently did with Glamorous Geek Chic. I also got some other great polishes, but I didn't have time to swatch them, so you'll see them as I wear them.

Anyway, back to this polish. It doesn't need introduction. But I will write this - I looooooooooove it:) I read quite a lot of reviews of the brush - I have to say I'm on the side that loves it. It's big, it's flat, it's hard... What's there not to like:)

And, moving on to the pics. I'm glad we're getting a lot of sunshine, so the pics are accurate:) The base polish is yesterday's mani, s-he 468.

First, the bottle:

And pics in the sun. When the sun touches this polish, it mostly flashes green and gold.

In the shade it flashes mostly coppery gold with hints of green:
