Nicole by OPI - Leaf me alone

I love duochromes, they're a great distraction from work when i need one:)

This is quite sheer, so i layered it over a coat of some brown polish, I can't remember which. Two layers ob LMA and look at the result! I actually got compliments on this one, and I don't usually get compliments..

Nice, right? What's your favourite duochrome? (yes, I need more:) )

Eyeko - Posh Polish

I'm trying out something new - subtle manicures for college. I don't think it's going to stick:)

This is Eyeko - Posh polish. The formula was great, two coats. No TC.

And just for fun - A picture of Puhek (Fluffy), one of my two guinea pigs.

Eyeko - Military Polish

I just had to show you this! I apologise, my camera still isn't repaired, so pics are extremely crappy, as I took them with my cell phone and under artificial light. But the colour of the polish is surprisingly accurate, so I decided to post them anyway. I'll make it up to you with a post about a great blue polish I wore a while ago with great pics:)

Anyway, I love Eyeko, especially their polishes. I bought this polish, and I got an Ambassador welcome pack with it, as I signed up for an Ambassador. It contained a lip gloss called London Lips, which I also adore and been wearing it a lot lately. I'll do a proper review when I get my camera (again with the camera... I didn't realize until now how lost I am without that thing!). I'm blabbering again, so back to the polish. It's unique in my stash, I have nothing alike. It applied very nicely - the first coat was streaky as usual, but the second coat really evened it out and made it opaque. I love twocoaters:) And the colour is exactly what I'd call camouflage brown/green. Another Eyeko win;)

EDIT: Just as I posted this, the sun came out, so I took two pics in the sun too. Again, crappy crappy, but quite colour accurate on the polish.

Hema - Long Lasting 15

Note to myself - this is a layering polish. Next time, layer it over a brown, don't put 6 coats on.

Last pic is in super strong light, to show off the flakies and shimmer.

Essence Metalics

They're finally here! another novelty I had to have, of course. I jumped with joy today as I saw the stand:)

I guess you've all heard about magnetic nail polishes - they have small metal particles in them, and you apply them and put a magnet next to your nails. And tatatara, a nice pattern appears:)

I just had to swatch these as soon as I got home. They're rushed swatches, but what the hell, they'll give you an idea of what I'm talking about anyway.

These are, from left to right: Steel Me, Iron Goddess, Nothing else Metals and Copper Rulez. There is a fifth polish in this LE, but I wasn't interested in it because it's not magnetic:) I used the Essence magnet that comes in the LE for the first three nails, and I like the pattern a lot! And on my pinky I used a kitchen magnet. FAIL!

And a couple of advices:
* if you use the Essence magnet, paint one nail at a time. Be ready - you'll have to work fast as lightning. Put one thick coat of polish on your nail and immediately put the magnet next to your nail, just milimetres away. Hold as still as possible for 20-30 seconds, and there you have it:)
* shake the bottle before you use it! And i don't mean roll it in your hands, I mean vigorously shake it. A lot, and often.
* of course you can use other brands of magnets for polish - I know Alessandro and L'Oreal did something alike.
*if you're going to use kitchen magnets, expect some trial and error. You'll have to see for yourself which magnets work best. I do believe you can make some great designs with those too, but I still suggest buying the Essence one too (unless you have the Alessandro one, that one is supposed to be much better).
* be patient, and don't give up!

OPI - My Private Jet

On the lottery that is buying MPJ, I got the brown version with slight holo effect:) It's stunning anyway, I love the colour and looove the application. Two coats, and they dried super fast even without TC.

Models Own - Purple Grey

See how I'm expanding my polish collection? This is from my first Models Own haul when the discount was on:)

I don't really care that it's supposed to be a Chanel dupe minus the shimmer. I really love the colour all by itself! A really great purple-brown-grey, I couldn't stop looking at it!

The formula was amazing too - two coats and just the right consistency - a little thick, but not too thick. Ah, love.

Essence - Absolutely Stylish

Another great one from We Saw It First. Of course I had to have it, even though these will be in their core line in October.

This one is supposed to have green shimmers - according to the bottle cap. It sort of does, but the shimmery particles are somwhat weird - most of the time they look like they do in the pics. In the shade they're less apparent and more green, but sometimes I could see some pink too. Interesting polish:)

Wet'N'Wild Craze - Rustic

Now that's more like it. A gorgeous reddish brown with shimmer that pops in the sun. It's gold and it's red and it's brown and it's great!

Olivia - 11

Blah. I've had this for over a year, and if it didn't have a sort of sentimental value it would be long gone. I got this as a Christmas present from the owner of a coffee shop I frequented A LOT during classes, with my colleagues of course.

Colour wise, this is everything I hate in a polish. It's sheer (5 coats!), frosty and weirdly coloured wannabe nude. Blah again.

Oh, and it smells real bad.

Catrice - Clay-ton, My Hero (&I cried a little)

First, why I cried... It seems most of the other nail bloggers manage to keep their nails at a certain lenght all the time. I don't have the discipline or whatever to file my nails overy day or so, so I usually just let them grow until they're too long and them file them down real short, then let them grow back long and so on. Besides, I'm clumsy. I'm sure to break a nail if I let them be too long. So, every three weks or so comes the dreaded day - the day I shorten my nails. Oh dear:( Today was that day again. I love having somewhat longer nails, but (being clumsy and all that) I really can't have them that way. Not now at least, when my days are comprised mostly of manual labour or typing on the computer - both of which I can't do with long nails. I know most of you have onger nails than I do when I consider them long, and I seriously admire you for that. How you do any work and not be bothered by nails or break them is beyond me (it's an art I have yet to master). So, today I shortened my nails. And cried just a little bit (on the inside of course). On the plus side, I tried filing them a little differently than usual, I'll see if I like it.

I wanted to polish them with a more calm polish, not an in your face sort of colour. I chose one of my untrieds, Catrice's Clay-ton, My Hero. It's a light brown with golden shimmer - pure beauty:) It took two coats and dried really quickly!

The pics:

See how it shimmers? I love that it's subtle and still special. A must have!

Glistened Chocolate Shake

I started my mani today with Essence's Chocolate Shake from the Creamylicious TE. And then I looked at my nails and decided they need an upgrade :) So I tried out A new Essence polish Glisten Up! from their Colour&Go colection. I was sort of afraid that the colours would clash, but I'm pleasantly surprised with the result.

First: Chocolate Shake:

And then: Glisten Up! over Chocolate Shake

I love this polish. It's got silver glitter particles, tiny green glitter, greenish flakies.. And it dries super quickly. Gotta love it:)

I hate that I've been posting only pictures, taken with flash. But the weather is soooo depressing, I haven't seen sunshine in a while:( It must be all the volcanic ash:))

Catrice Black Beauty

Torej, slike:

Today I have Catrice Black Beauty as my NOTD - it's a polish that's gone out of sale. If I knew this line of polishes was so great, I would have bought all of them when I had the chance. Now sadly I only own two. Sometnih about the polish itself: the brush is slightly flattened and just the right lenght - I managed to apply the polish neatly, as you can see on the pictures. No clean-up neccessary:) There are two lyers, but you could probably manage with only one if you have the patience and precision it takes. It also dries very quickly. The colour is beautiful, a dark brown with shimmer in gold and red, that just comes alive when in the light. So, the photos:

Sunlight, behold the shimmer:

Malo prej pa sem se odločila za velik eksperiment - po dolgem času sem spet poiskala konad škatlico. Uporabila sem Essence Romeo in konad platko m56. Tole je rezultat:

Just now i decided to conduct a big experimet - after a long time I took out my konad box. I used Essence Romeo and konad m56 plate. And the result is:

Temno rjavi lakci /Dark brown polishes

Some time ago I decided to take some time and swatch my polish collection. Today I focused on dark browns and I quicky smired them on my nails. All pictures are with flash, accept for the Spicy one, which is taken under artificial light, but has a mini photo of the shimmer under flash too.

Najprej stekleničke:
First the bottles:

Od leve proti desni si sledijo:
From left to right:

Essence 02 Rockabilly (50's fever Trend Edition)
Essence 12 Very diva (Colour&Go)
Essence 39 Spicy (Multi dimension)
Catrice 100 Black beauty (60 seconds nail couture)

In slika lakcev, na hitro namazanih na nohte. Od leve proti desni:
And the polishes quickly smeared on my nails. From left to right:

Black beauty, Spicy, Very diva, Rockabilly.

Vsi so naneseni v dveh slojih.

All polishes are applied in two coats. Catrice was the least troublesome, Rockabilly and Very diva were terrible and I think they might need some thinner. As you can see, Spicy and Black beauty have shimmer. Spicy has small golden shimmer particles, and Black beauty has larger, reddish to gold particles. And some close-ups:

Vsem vam želim prvi popočitniški dan!
Have a nice day!
